- Hello Lee ,yes Tidworth was a right hole in the ground sorry if I offend any body on here thats from that neck in the wood ,you had the Drummer and bowling alley and the pub up by the other end of the town cannot remember its name .that was back in the 60-70s .
Yews you got it bang on its the Royal Scots came out in 1980 after doing 16 years just before the Falklands warwe were in Edinburgh at the time Redford Bks.I think they then went to Ireland for 2 years then upto Fort George after that .
Yes its great up here nice and quiet and peaceful hate it when I travel dowwn south to places like Edinburgh or to the sons in Southampton to big and busy cannot wait to get back up here .
Well here come the white stuff again just started to snow again they reckon we are in for another heavy load over the week-end heaven help us ,anyway catch you later take care what were you in by the way ?
Cheers take care ...Bill - 02-12-2010 08:03 PM - permalinkturkeyneckAs for Tidworth! Jeez, what can I say, my first 3 years 'in' was there, it was nice to get involved in the Gulf war just to escape the place, Kuwait or Tidworth? Easy, Kuwait everytime.
You'll have to forgive my ignorance but I can't work out the Reg Badge your standing in front of, green tartan puts me in mind of the Royal Scots (who I served with in Fort George), Black Watch and the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, I know its definitely not the latter.
I'd be interested to find out though Bill,
Kind Regards
Lee - 02-12-2010 08:02 PM - permalinkturkeyneckHey Bill, just read your post, just how lucky are you living up there!
I was a single bloke when living in Inverness and met my wife in Dorset who has never been to Scotland (Edinburgh for a weekend, but to me, true Scotland is the highlands) any way for the last 10 years she's had to live with me raving on about Inverness and the Highlands.
She wants me to take her there but I feel if I went back I may not leave again (wouldn't do the marriage much good I reckon). I'll just have to wait til I win the lottery and then I'll buy Castle Stuart as my second home! - Hello Elaine,Have managed to prise the pc away from the wife at the moment she has went for a nap.Have lost Pc as she wants to watch BB and as its only on for another 4 weeks anything for peace .
Its the only time she gets it,have popped in and out but not been able to get much done at the moment due to Council doing renovations to house also been back and forward to specialist for my routine check ups all going fine so far ,
I have a load of pics on card waiting to bve uploaded to pc as well that I cannot get done but will get there eventually ,hope you are all ok take care
Bill xx - Hi Bill..hope you are OK.
not seen you around a lot lately..just to let you know I am thinking about you and your wife..
Elaine.x - Hi Geoff at the moment not ventured out to far ,furthest I have been is into Inverness and the roads between here and there are OK but I believe that the A9 southwards is pretty bad and most of the B roads still have not been cleared yet .
We have had quite a bit of snow but luckily for us it has not laid this time but firther inland its really bad I believe .
When are you coming up this way ? forecast over next few days is not too bad snow over the mountains and rain to lower levels.
