Hi Acipiter... keep an eye on this website , shows up whats seen oround the herts area , wilstone features alot. Mind you the raptors are not a common post ... Herts Bird Club

Saw a beautiful male sparrowhawk in one of our meadows today. Took a starling and was keeping an eye out down the valley while he ate his prize... didn't se me 30ft behind him. One of those times when I wish I had a camera handy.....

In answer to your question, I wasn't in a hide but a friend of mine noticed it under a canopy of trees leading to a bench in the wetlands in Llanelli. Try and picture about six or eight people stood about 30 feet away all shooting away with cameras! The bird was unconcerned about us being there as it was a very recent kill so it was not going to fly any time soon. The problem with all the photos really was that the ISO had to be so high as it was so dark under the tree canopy. Hence the grain in my photo's.
