    Hi Acher,

Just realised I hadn't responded to your post in the Bad Day thread - apologies. Thanks! Hopefully the SSD can now be worked on.

    Take care,

    Jason

Nice to see you back - hope you are soon back on your feet and off out round our local areas - or where ever you feel like going.

Thank you very much Acher for your kind comment on my red deer photo I do like the time of year when the heather is so purple as it does make a lovely contrast to the deer in the New Forest which are my favourite subjects

Thanks for the explanation, Joe! Nice to know my latin roots are still vaguely (very vaguely) there!
Did I read that you actually named the sponge? The only traces I can find of it are on a website 'Old as the Hills' and a PDF that is partly in Oriental characters. I should be processing images but curiosoity got the better of me ;) I must 'waste' quite a lot of time trying to learn and find out about various things that are new to me!!
I suppose that there are quite a few organisms still being catologued and, unfortunately, quite a few that may never be - especially in rain forests.

You're the first person who's asked, and you've actually done pretty well! :-)
It's interpretable in a number of ways, but it was originally meant along the lines of "spiky teenager" - it's a fossil sponge I named because the juveniles were incredibly prickly! (Full name Acutipuerilis spinosus.) It's a delightful species, honestly. The spines are as long as the body in one specimen...
    Cheers,
    Joe

Its always as well to start from a reasonable standpoint when asking someone not to do something but I can understand OH's feelings too - you just never know these days with knife crime and drugs whether someone can be reasoned with or is just going to have a go and if there are more of them than you and they can ride off and disappear and not be traced after ........ its a risky business and as I get older I get less likely to complain when folk are misbehaving .........

Hi acherontia - its Pauline by the way - think the confusion comes from my 'handle' being PMG! Sounds like you are very local if you've been shouting at youths at Low Hall! It was one of my sites - along with Amberswood - when I worked on the ranger service and there has always been intermittant probs with bikes. A little whisper tells me that White-letter Hairstreak has just been found there? Haven't heard from GrahamO yet but I'd be happy to give info if asked.......

Hi everyone and thanks to you all for being my friend - I've never come across this kind of facility before - it's great! Cheers for the very warm welcome.

I don't get here very regularly as it depends how busy we are with the college and field stuff. College may have ended but there's about 3 briefs his Nibs has to do over the holidays and we always try to get out and about a lot too - plus trying to earn a bob or two with our old skills. ie artist/signwriter/paint effects etc.
    Aaarg!!
