Offer to buy 'text links'

I have had an e-mail from someone interested in buying 'text links' to my website. They state that they are willing to make a 'good offer'.
However I am not particularly interested in becoming involved in such a venture.

Has any other Members had such a request and what are your views on this?

As you have so many posts , people might like to buy a signature , it then gives them loads of links for search engines to read , doesnt really do any harm as long as its relevent

I've had a few such e-mails (as well as other SEO strategies) and I always delete them. I know it was big a few years ago, but I remember reading that Google had taken steps to improve their search algorithms and were actively combating many SEO 'linking' techniques - a quick Google and I think it was this article, although it's now a few years old.

If (like me) you're not too worried about being at the top of every Google search, and aren't desperately trying to improve your site's ranking to sell your pics, I wouldn't bother with these schemes. Trading links with other relevant, high quality websites will do more for your long-term site ranking than text links, back-linking, etc.

I had a similar request back around the New Year. I think they were offering about $120 a year for a small text ad. Couldn't be bothered to reply.
