Returned from a weekend break to find that my zenfolio website had been hit by an idiot who left a couple of dozen nasty, personal and racist (in fact everything they could think of really!) comments all over our site ........ Its someone from Europe cos the time they are left shows +01.00 and from a bored teenager I suspect from the content. I've cleaned it all off and suspended the guestbook for a while. I will contact zenfolio this morning and see if there is anything can be done about getting around this problem. So watch your sites guys as we are all linked together

Know this one too often - as you see my guestbook was taken down 2 weeks ago - mine are from the punk fraternity but now you got me thinking! I don't mind any comments to be honest as its part of the scene but one had a worm in it which affected the server and so my site was taken down - not good. If people want to leave comments then e-mail is the way!

Shame I missed the comments on yours though - always tickles me how people pass the time!

Mornin' Dave - our site is still running - I guess that zenfolio - being a big operation - have stuff in place that prevents the whole from being affected or infected - whereas individual websites must struggle against this type attack. I found that my computer had worm - prob at the same time the first comment was left but I dealt with that and got a couple of extra precautions in place - the computer isn't telling me this morning that its 'hot' with a virus so these programmes must be working! As for the comments - well we've said it before there must be some seriously mishapen folks out there ........

Zenfolio have contacted me over it and will remove the two offensive message on my front page - I can delete so that visitors can't see it - but it remains on my viewing page with a line thro it so I can stilll read it - they will obliterate it altogether which is great.

I don't know whether everyone on zenfolio will have a pic and a copy of comments coming up on their own email - but that is how mine is set up and it allows you to see very quickly what has been left and deal with it fast if its something not nice - and helps you to find the nasties quicker than trawling thro your site in individual galleries.

I shall cut and paste nice comments (from the email - as folk who really want to talk or comment are coming thro on my own email now) and I will open my guestbook just long enough to paste these in and then shut it down again - this will let the nutcases know that there are ways around their offensive behaviour ...........

I've taken all the steps I said I would and a couple I've said nothing about! The person responsible is now moving down my guestbook and going onto other sites and leaving disgusting comments on their sites - some of which involve me..... the words 'get a life' spring to mind ....... there must be some sad an sorry sickos out there when the only creative thing they can do is leave filth on other folks perfectly decent sites ...........

I wouldn't worry too much Claire - any comments left on zenfolio usually display in your normal email and can be seen and dealt with quite quickly Most folks interested in photography don't take any notice of the comments anyway - its pics they want to see and will ignore the write up

Yes I know but its one of those website drawbacks that just has to be got around - it must be worse for folks with their own websites which can be interferred with a lot more than a set up like zenfolio. I actually think from the content wording that it was a child/young adult or someone who is not a 'full shilling' I have reinstated my guestbook tonight for use by zenfolio registered folks only and anyone else can contact by email as normal. People who really want to speak to me will send an email as easily as leave a comment in the guestbook so its a case of 'water' and 'ducks back' plus 'two fingers in the air' from me at the minute
