| | | Migrated Well, after lots of humming and are-ing, I've finally opened a Zenfolio account. The reason for changing; purely for ease of up-loading and site maintenance. If I had a few new photo's to do on the old site, it took hours of writing code then ensuring all links worked correctly and I decided enough was enough, I'd rather spend my time on other things.
After talking to other members who have Zenfolio accounts and looking at similar sites that offer these type of facilities, Zenfolio looks the best. My one main concern is the "hit rate". On my old site I was getting an average of 1000 page loads a month and I reckon this will never be achieved using Zenfolio (even though one of my domain names is pointing to the account). I think this may be because I no longer have control/access to the meta tags. Oh well, c'est la vie.
Anyhooo, you can have a ganders at the new efforts here... Revell Photography |

What's more important is the content on your pages.
I think one of the best things to remember with regards to search engine optimization is that search engines search for things people want to look at. As long as you have something people want to look at (i.e. content), the search engine will find it for the user - that's what they're designed to do.
My only qualm with Zenfolio is it's excessive and unnecessary use of JavaScript, and the lack of an alternative for JavaScript-less users
Nice photos BTW |

However the page loads on my Zenfolio site are increasing every month. Nowhere near as many as I was getting on my old site but increasing all the same.
I moved to Zenfolio in April and as said I'm consistently getting more visitors every month. When my domain name comes up for renewal I will point it at my Zenfolio site and do away with my old site altogether and I guess this should improve the hit rate again.
Great site Ben and coming on very nicely with some excellent images. |

The Av. pic was taken by a celebrated South of England photographer and what a great shot it is. |
