| | | Nature Watch & Nature Blog (all in one!) I started Nature Watch Corfe Mullen in April 2008 after realising that our local countryside and village was very badly recorded at the Dorset Environmental Records Office. When I checked they only had a handful of records of flora/fauna for my area. So I'm trying to encourage people to send me sightings and records, and I've run 6 local wildlife events (with the help of Dorset Wildlife Trust) and have secured £2000 funding from the local East Dorset Community Partnership fund. The aim is to get more people out into their "patch" enjoying the wildlife and to increase the number of environmental records. We are getting there!
I had started my wildlife blog the previous October (2007), and integrated it into the Nature Watch site in Summer 2008. The blog runs hand in hand with the website really, but documents my thoughts and adventures in the countryside around Corfe Mullen and in my back garden in photos and video. I was lucky enough to get chosen as "blog of the month" in December by the Countryfile magazine and have been on Radio Solent a few times... nattering about my local wildlife.
I hope you enjoy it! Nature Watch Corfe Mullen : Recording Nature for the Future
Jane
