| | | weeting meeting may 12 and 13th Hi Everybody , as mentioned on the minsmere thread we have decided to split the weeting meet fromthe minsmere one and do seperate weekends , this is the new weeting meeting date
The itinery is still pretty fluid but we will aim to be at weeting on the saturday ( I was warden there in '99 so i can give eveyone the inside track) then we will have lunch and go onto another site afterwards. Those wishing to are most welcome to join me camping on the evening of the 12th when if weather is clement we may run a moth trap.
then on the sunday we will aim to go to thompson common for d/flys - lunch in a very good pub the chequers at thompson common, then elsewhere in the afternoon depending on taste and whim.
I know that a couple of wheelchair users were interested in coming along so i will note that weeting is disabled accessible , and i will make sure that whatever we pick for the saturday afternooon is likewise. Thomson common unfortunately isnt although the pub is.
public transport wise the nearest trainstation is brandon (local trains only , change at thetford from national services) while busses go to weeting village from brandon about once an hour - weeting NNR is walkable from weeting village (bout a mile) but I am sure we can arrange to pick folk up if you prefer
everyone welcome , so if you fancy it sign up below. At this stage it is just a registration of interest but I will be asking folk to confirm a couple of weeks prior because the chequers is pretty small so if we are a big group i may need to pre book for sunday lunch
cheers
Pete (eeyore)

| | | Re: weeting meeting may 12 and 13th May I be the first to sign up for the Weeting meet. Although I am very ambulent restricted I do not normally use a wheelchair. However I know Weeting enough to know that the hides are within my walking range. I look forward to seeing many other members there along with the Stone Curlew and any other birds on view.

as wildone has just mentioned weeting is best known for its birds including stone curlew and woodlarks , but this meet is in no way restriccted to birders we should also see an array of interesting flora , butterflys , d/flys, moths and erm... other stuff enough to keep mvirtually any member amused.

I will be calling into Weeting Heath next weekend. I would have loved to have joined this day but I will be in Lesvos at the time. Shame it wasn't a couple of weeks later.
