| | | yet another top weekend As Andrew (boddie) mentioned elsewhere he and I were in the peak this weekend and despite the weather not being the best it was yet another top outing , demonstrating that all that is needed is good scenery and good company (and good pubs )
we stayed at the field head campsite - edale , which is opperated by the national park authority and at £4.50 pppn is cracking value - its a well drained site with decent facilities and a pub with easy walking (/staggering) distance that does good food at a reasonable price, what more could you ask.
We spent the predominant part of saturday at derwent water , where we totally failed to walk up derwent edge but had a nice stroll round derwent and ladybower reservoirs - the light was somewhat against us - photographically speaking but i did manage a coplue of decent shots
this is a window in the upper ladybower dam tower reflecting the sky which i though was quite nice
while this is a view accross derwent water - i was attracted by the light which had a sort of painterly quality (this is unmanipulated except for crop and resize)
I have also tried converting this one to B+W manipulating the red channel to mimic the effect of IR film - not sure if I like it or not
After our exertions we then headed up to the snake pass inn , another damn fine hostelry, for a refreshing steak sandwich and stu joined us for a cheeky sherbert or two. Then it was back to the tents for a quick nap in preparation for a hefty steak pud supper (and more beer )
Today as we werent in the slightest put off by the rain, sleet, hail, snow and high winds and had a swift driving tour of the white peak calling in at "waterfall" - where we totally failed to find the waterfall and at ilam park which looks to be a top venue for a return visit in more clement weather.
all in all another bang on weekend

| | Re: yet another top weekend derwent water looks very pretty in the second photo, its a great picture....last time i was there my mum tripped on a rock and i spent three hours in keswick A&E whilst she had a head xray so i never did get to have a proper look!
anyway, back to the point, if the view over lakes is something you're into and you're up the north again anytime over summer, ennerdale lake is spectacular, no roads around it and very quiet because most tourists don't get that far up!

| | | Re: yet another top weekend Sounds like another good weekend, You give me great ideas for places to visit if I ever get up that end of the Country ( I make a note in a book of them all )
Great Photo's. I love the Black and White one, But then I have a passion for Black and white Photography. I think I inherited it from my dad who was a keen Photographer and only did Black and white.. Mind it was back in the days when he did all his own developing in a Huge built in cupboard in one of the bedrooms The whole process from taking the Phot'os to developing and seeing the Picture emerge fascinated me. (something I think we miss out on now in the days of Digital camera's). Something I would like to get back to doing at some stage. |
