| | | WAB Meet 2012 Calendar!? I was wondering when the WAB Meet calendar was going to be getting off the ground this year?
I'm keen to get cracking, especially as I missed out on the Mince Pie one.
Maybe, as suggested last year but didn't happen, Adam & I could organise Pagham Harbour fairly soon!?!
As always, I shall look forward to Thursley & hoping they'll be a Priory Water one again!
Both my favourites last year!

| | | Re: WAB Meet 2012 Calendar!? Not sure any have been organised to the extent there is a date set. Perhaps we should suggest some like last year and this thread seems like a good place. Mid June Strumpshaw Fen for Norfolk Hawkers and Swallowtail butterflies Late June/early July: New forest for southern damselfly and Scarce blue tailed Damselfly Late April/May Minsmere could be good for Avocets and other waders on the scrape and bitterns and marsh harriers too
I think with Thursley we suggested heading to Dorset area for Arne/Portland area and/or rockpooling.
Ive heard whispers Priory meet should be happening
And there is the fossil hunting meet which I don't think there is a set date for yet |

We need to find out when the really low spring tides are occurring this year. ordinary low spring and neap tides are ok for beachcombing the fossils, but for the really good stuff we need the tide to go out as far as it can. Anyone know when the lowest spring tides are occurring this year?
Cheers,

| | | Re: WAB Meet 2012 Calendar!? I think the weekend of 21 and 22 July would be good for Thursley, as the 22nd is my birthday, and a rather excellent day for cake.
Did I ever mention that I really like cake?

| | | Re: WAB Meet 2012 Calendar!? I'm happy to sort another Thursley- it would be the 6th year but what I'm worrying about is that we may need a deputy to step in should we get called away. We're going to grandparents again in the summer and we may need to dash to grandson sit whilst number 2 puts in an appearance. Do you all want me to sort it?

Cheers,
Adam | Short of buying the tables, the best I can find is the Climbers Club website which shows tide times for various locations (including Portland) round the UK. Most other sites only give a month in advance.
Don't forget that it's not just a decent spring tide, but one which occurs at a reasonable point in the day. |

Did I ever mention that I really like cake? | Frequently Andrew, frequently!
We've also got to find out when our youngest's graduation in Manc is happening too- that's during July sometime!

You've always done a sterling job on Thursley
