| | | Mince Pie Meet, Titchwell, 28 December 2011 For the third annual Mince Pie Meet I thought we'd leave Kent and head a bit further afield. Titchwell will be the meeting point but we may well move along the coast to Cley and Salthouse later in the day.
It's a three hour drive for me so I suggest a meet time of 10am.
As usual, I'll be bringing along mince pies for everyone!

I think you'll find you need sunflower seeds for them - not mince pies |

Any chance of you making it Pauline? It's a long drive, I know, especially if mince pies are "off the menu".

Dave P. | Of course I'm tempted - tho I doubt I will be able to eat a mince pie - plus I'm wondering just how much snow there will be by then? |

| | | Re: Mince Pie Meet, Titchwell, 28 December 2011 If it's anything like last year, the snow could put the kibosh on it but we'll worry about that when it happens.
It'd be great to meet you David - you could go on ahead and line all teh birds up nicely for when we arrive.

Dave P. | Or I could leave early and pop into cley on the way through.
Other points of interest are Holkham bay which is good for shorelarks and other coastal passerines, and last winter Scaup and smew were on the boating lake near wells beech car park with various redpolls and such near the dell. Also a couple of Rough Legged Buzzards were at Burnham overy dunes and did show well from the road. Could be worth a walk down to the dunes depending on the tides. You never know what will be about in Norfolk that time of the year. Last year a northern harrier (american version of a hen harrier) was at Holme for most of the winter.
And who can forget the Snow Buntings at Salthouse. Here's a taster. |

Salthouse is an absolute "must" if you are visiting the North Norfolk Coast at that time of year | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
