John | My original suggestion was for 5/6th but pretty much any weekend in November is fine for me.

| | | re: Gigrin meet - 26th/27th November 2011. I should be able to make it too, providing it's not on the 19th/20th November as it's my little boy's 1st birthday (where has the time GONE??!! ).
Any excuse for a Gigrin trip Definitely at its best in snow, but it's really a 4x4 job. |

| | | re: Gigrin meet - 26th/27th November 2011. The Radnorshire Wildlife Trust's Gilfach Farm reserve is less than five miles away from Gigrin. It's on the river Marteg which has dippers and the possibility of leaping salmon (depending on when the run is - might be all over by then).
Last time I went, I drove to Rhayader on Saturday morning, spent Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning at Gilfach, then Sunday afternoon at Gigrin before driving home again. Doing that does put all your eggs in one basket weather-wise. Maybe we'd be better to aim for Gigrin on the Saturday and then if the weather's bad we've got Sunday as a fallback.
Are you camping Neil? I was going to say it might be a bit cold but the way the weather's been lately I'm keeping schtum on that score. 30 degrees in October - madness! Last time I kipped in the car but it was April and quite mild. There are two camp sites in Rhayader (at least) on of which is right next to Gigrin Farm. I don't know if they close for the winter though.

Dave P. | looks like the campsite is open in winter. Ive camped in Jan/Feb when I was younger and minus any of my current built in insulation/blubber so for £5 a night I might give it a try!
May look for alternatives just in case though... |
