| | | Re: Arne Dorset Special Trip It was a great trip and lovely to see Marc and Roger again. The last time was the deer rut meet back in 2008. It's always good to see Linda and Rob - that goes without saying!
I notice Linda is still being modest and hasn't mentioned the reason for the "special" tour - she came second in an RSPB photo contest and this, along with a lovely pair of lightweight binoculars, was her prize.
The smooth snake certainly was a highlight. Just sand lizard to go and I'll have seen all six native reptiles. Here are my shots of it...
Like the grass snake at Priory Water, he's ready to shed his skin, hence the milky blue covering of the eye.
I still haven't seen a Dartford warbler but it'll happen one day!

| | | Re: Arne Dorset Special Trip You will be even more disappointed than the Dartford Warbler that we all see but hides when you are around as I got an email from Arne yesterday telling me that an opsrey arrived on Sunday!! We would have had a good view of that on our trip! He might have been tempted by the chance of a cake!
Apparently the photos the staff took at the presentation of my prize will be in the next RSPB magazine if anyone belongs to RSPB just a shame Chris Packham wasnt there for the day! |

Great to meet up with Linda, Rob and Dave again, and a special thanks to Marc for his assistance while I hobbled round like Long John Silver on my sprained ankle.
Here's a few of my pics:

| | | Re: Arne Dorset Special Trip Congratulations Linda - well done on the competition win
Just think if I wasn't laid up we could have joined you all as we should be in Dorset right now.
I love Arne - the woodland is just so magical ....... it must have been very nice to be taken into other parts of the reserve - thats always a thrill anywhere.
You're doing well Dave P I still have Sand Lizard and Smooth Snake on my wish list ........ I'm not jealous (much )
