Cheshire Active Naturalists BioBlitz
Saturday 4th June 2011, 10am - 6pm.
Norton Priory Museum & Gardens, Runcorn, Cheshire
Where natural meets history!
A wildlife recording extravaganza, with guided walks, survey equipment to try out and with national experts on hand for all varieties of wildlife. This is the largest gathering of natural historians the county has ever seen, drawing on expert knowledge from an unimaginable amount of groups.
From Dragonflies to Mosses, Lichens to Bees and everything else we can find! This is your chance to help add a species to the overall tally!
The BioBlitz will be all day in the beautiful location of Norton Priory Museum & Gardens in Runcorn. This is one of the largest excavated monastic sites in Europe, where the Abbey met its end in 1536 under Henry VIII's dissolution of all religious buildings. Lots of the BioBlitz events will be in the amazing walled garden and the wildflower meadow, as well as the ponds and woodland on site. It really is where natural meets history!
All ages and abilities are welcome to attend and participation is absolutely free! The event is kindly being sponsored by the Open Air Laboratories Project (OPAL). There will be a chance to take part in some of the OPAL national surveys on the day!
The BioBlitz activities start at 10am on Saturday 4th June 2011.
