Images from the Slimbridge Meeting

I thought I'd kick off the flood with my favorite so far from a very pleasant day spent at Slimbridge. Good weather, good company, can't ask for more really

That's just about the best detailed GSW I've seen Kev. I can't wait to see the others.

Re: Images from the Slimbridge Meeting

Blimey Kev, if that's uncropped how on earth do you get so close to a GSW if you're not in a hide? Were you hiding in a bush?

Here's a few of mine....I do have an extremely soft spot for black-headed gulls (if you click on the photos they should come out slightly bigger than they do in the forum).

a 600mm lens doesn't get you that close though, especially on Kev's full frame camera. In fact it doesn't even get you as close as a 400mm lens on a 400D or 30D body. He still had to be pretty close to the GSW

It's a x1.3 crop on the 1DMkII N matt so it's close to 800mm

Re: Images from the Slimbridge Meeting

A good day, wasn't it and good to meet you all, if only briefly with Gaina and Nightshade.
Nothing spectacular in the way of photography from me, I'm afraid, just these two.

Jerry

A mixed flock of waders from the Zeiss hide - Lapwings, Golden Plovers, Dunlins and just one Ruff (can you spot it? )

Not British wildlife, as you can see, but an interesting shot. Thanks to Dai the Dragon for the idea.

Woah Jerry that Flamingo shot is amazing . Did you go into the 'flamingo hut'? How can something so beautiful stink so much!? Haha

I'm sorry we didn't catch up with you again - must try harder next time - but it was lovely to meet you all
