| | | Wicken Fen dragonfly meet 16th July 2011 Trying not to go too close to other meets already announced, and looking for a gap in my own diary...
Wicken Fen in Cambridgeshire is Britain's first nature reserve, the first package of land having been acquired by the National Trust in 1899.
20 species of dragonfly are present at Wicken, the majority of which will be flying (weather permitting!) at the time of this meet. Wicken Fen NT caters to the needs of visitors with a recently refurbished visitor centre and shop, a small cafe and toilets. Other attractions include Fen Cottage and the Dragonfly Centre.
An entry fees applies for non-members of the NT.
I've gone for just the Saturday, but we can include Sunday if you wish, either at Wicken or other local reserves.
Another fantastic Fenland reserve, Woodwalton Fen, is only about 25 miles away, and there are several RSPB or WWT reserves in striking distance.

Still, it was 5 years before I could make it to one of the meets you organised, so there are plenty of years still to go
Enjoy your birthday!
