| | | Re: Ivinghoe Beacon and College Lake, 19 June 2011 Thanks Pete, and thanks for organising the meet and guiding us too. I've wanted to come in previous years but haven't been able so was pleased to make it this year. Two great locations and if there's another meet next year I'll do my best to be there.
I've got a few more insect photos which I'll try to post later this evening.

| | | Re: Ivinghoe Beacon and College Lake, 19 June 2011 This evening has become this morning but here they are...
At Ivinghoe Beacon, when the marbled whites wouldn't play ball I turned my attention to a few other things, starting with some large skippers...
A couple of moths, the plume moth Emmelina monodactyla and a grass moth which Adam Cheeseman has kindly identified as Crambus lathoniellus...
Even though there's no hint of green, I'm pretty sure that this is a common green grasshopper...
It was while photographing this bee that I broke my glasses...
I've put it in the Gallery as Gypsy Cuckoo-bee - Bombus bohemicus which I think is correct. Does anybody recognise the flower it's feeding on? Very low growing and formed mats.
Moving on to College Lake, here's a female common blue damselfly...
And finally, a small heath posing for me in the corn meadow...
