Do they have electric points, kettle, water etc.
or are they like glorious tents with just a 2" padding on floor.
Need to know what I should take besides me Camp Bed and Sleeping Bag.
Thanks. |

Thanks. | I drive past them every time I come and go on site but I've not been cheeky enough to ask to look in one. I'm going back up this weekend and try to remember to either ask or look in when someone is using one. I'm guessing but I think they are just a 'solid tent' with nothing else .........

PS Just phoned up to make sure and there is as the web link says heating and light also a double electric socket - to be used with care - travel kettle or small hairdryer is fine - microwave or fan heater would blow the electric connection and punch you out of the system. Loos and showers are in the building as well as at the new centre.
Blow up mattress or recliner - fishing chairs etc needed for comfortable sleeping - there are no shelves or other padding inside - they are just a 'wooden tent' but I am assured they are warm!! Probably warmer than my caravan in the middle of the night!!!

Thank You Pauline for enquiring for me.--Appreciated greatfully.
I got a sleeping bag and a camp bed, so ok there.
Must find a small kettle now. Do you know if the electrics will charge a Laptop?
Now that I got an 18mp 7D with large RAW files, my on the go Xdrive2 is too small, only 32gb, so need my Laptop and Hard Drive. Not going to buy another expensive gadget these days.
Thanks Pauline. |

Thanks Pauline. | I can't say for sure but I don't see why not - just don;t put the kettle on at the same time
We sometimes run a (1?2?) kilowatt fan heater on the highest setting and we don;t punch out of the electric - I would have thought that a kettle or fan would be a much higher wattage than a laptop? Does anyone else know offhand - I don't want to give wrong advice??

| | | Re: Leighton Moss April 2011 My kettle is 2500 watts, the laptop charger consumes a microscopic amount of power compared to the kettle.
I hope it warms up a bit otherwise you'll need the fan heater! |

| | | Re: Leighton Moss April 2011 My laptop charger is 65 watts and I'd think that was about average.
I'm bringing my camping stove Dennis, so if you have any trouble with electrics there's a cup of tea for you in our pod!

Dave P. | ...... and the kettle will be on a short walk away in our van Which is where I'm off back to this morning for a few days: the weather isn't so good but it is mild and I'm hoping to get some peace and birding/wandering done (where's that fingers crossed icon??!!) Back soon ..........

| | | Re: Leighton Moss April 2011 That's what i like about you lot, always helpful...Appreciated this way.
I did phone them and electrics is ok for laptop. The lady did say a low wattage kettle, or voltage, not sure, electrics is not my fortae. I will make enquiries with club members to see if one of them has a low wattage kettle to loan me, as i don't see it worth while me buying one just to use for 4 days.
pressld2--camping stove sounds a very good idea. nice to see someone is prepared. i can go without breakfast but need my morning coffee or two, then i'm happy.
My pc with all my favourites and other things has given me a bsod this morning and I've tried sorting it out all day. good job i got all my email addys doubled up on this pc. so from time to time i not use capitols as desk is full of bits from other pc, anyway, that's another long story for some other time.
i need an exorcist to get rid of this devil on my head.
off now to find a sledge hammer for this pc that's in pieces...
have a good weekend all. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
