| | | Arundel WWT I am thinking of popping along to see the birds at Arundel over the next few weeks - anyone fancy coming along?
Here's a link to the site. The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust.
Edit: Another local site to me that I would like to visit is Pulborough Brooks so if anyone local wants to show me around I would be extremely grateful.

How's the unpacking going?
I was wondering how you were getting along.
If ever we're near Arundel, I'll get in touch. It's great there. Lots of Eida ducks last time I went. I do love them.
And they were doing some extensive alterations, must have finished by now. Tell us all about it.
Have you ever been to Pagham harbour? That's great!

| | | Re: Arundel WWT Hello Badgerwatcher, happy new year to you.
Let me know if you are ever around here and we can do that.
I have never been to Pagham Harbour, but I have heard about it. I do hope to go there soon too.
At the moment, because I am new here, I don't know anyone in Sussex to go birding/mothing/nature watching with so I need to make some friends in the locality and hopefully they can recommend the good places to visit and (even better) show me around. Fortunately nature lovers are a friendly lot so I don't expect it will take too long for me to hook up with someone.

| | | Re: Arundel WWT You've got the South Downs near you, then Susie, didn't realise you were moving there. Arundal park is great chalk downland with all the blue butterflies and fabulous wild flowers. And loads of wonderful walks. I hope you are happy with your move.

Warnham is lovely, I have already been there a few times. I had hoped to go on the walk there on New Years day and meet a few people but the better half and kids opted to go to the seaside - can't complain cos it was a lovely day for it.
I know a few people in Surrey and have explored some of the North Downs, which are great for butterflies, but don't know anything about the South Downs yet. I am looking forward to finding out more.

You'll like Arundel WWT - I'd highly recommend it. I went last weekend for the first time and had a great time. Despite the awful weather, there was still lots going on a lots to see.
The highlight was this sparrowhawk I saw with a freshly caught pigeon. Not the greatest shot in the world but I never seem to have much luck with sparrowhawks - this is only about the third or fourth I've ever seen, and certainly the first I've had a chance to photograph.
All the best, and hope you have a great time when you go!
Chris

| | | Re: Arundel WWT Welcome to the WWT official website
I'm going to be there on Friday 2nd February - can you make it on a weekday, Badgerwatcher?
Free entry plus "Guide in the hide spotting wetland birds (volunteers with telescopes in hides)
Boat Safaris with Ramsar based commentary throughout the day
Wetland Themed foods with focus on sustainable foods including fish and alternatives to endangered species such as local Cod" - sounds too good to miss.
