| | | Dragonfly meetings I'm hoping to organise a couple of Dragonfly meetings, the first will be a Woodwalton fen, near Peterborough, hopefully at the very begining of June to coincide with the peak emergence of both Scarce Chaser(Libellula fulva) and Hairy Dragonfly(Brachytron pratense), there are loads of other species present but these two are the site specialitys. Date open to debate on this one, but preferably between May 20th & June 10th.
For the second meeting I'd like to return to Wicken fen in early July, this site is a true Dragonfly mecca, last year we had 16 species on our meet there, its also absolutely brilliant for other insects as well. I'm going to provisionally set Sunday 8th July as the date for this one as I think it may be quite popular. |

Keep the date free for now Pete, I'm working on an idea for a WAB Dragonfly day at another more central venue that I know will deliver the goods in terms of species so watch his space.
If anyone else is interested in a Dragonfly day in the Midlands just register your interest here.

| | | Re: Dragonfly meetings I still intend setting up a Dragonfly meeting for WAB members, but to make plans for this we really do need some settled hot sunny weather.
Most of the good Dragonfly sites that I reguarly use are low-lying and are quite obviously semi-submerged at the moment.
Keep watching, because as soon as I can I will arrange something, at the moment the only definate fact I can give you is that it will be held somewhere in the Midlands.

| | | Re: Dragonfly meetings yep i'm pretty certain it was cancelled - i would suspect that the Dragons and damsels acrossthe country have suffered from rising water levels - buti'd still be up for a d/fly meet if anyone knows of good locations that are unaffected.
edit : oops steves message wasnt there when I wrote the post

| | | Re: Dragonfly meetings Anyone got some good sites any dragonfly nutters like myself can visit in August?
Since Thursley, I've been starved of the things, so to speak.
PS-Think we ought to provisionally order up ThursleyII for next year about the same time-ish.
