| | | Re: Mince Pie Meet at Sevenoaks, December 28, 2010 A very nice set of pictures and makes me more regretfull that I was wallowing in flu on the day.
I had a visit to the reserve this Sunday. I had two highlights, well 3 really. First was that on one of the Islands that cant be seen from any of the hides I counted 38 snipe. I am sure I missed some. I am used to a dozen or so on the reserve so this was astounding.
I dont know if you you went as far as the new hode that overlooks a reed bed. I went there and apart from a couple of reed buntings everything seemed desolate. Then I was rewarded with a bittern having a strole across a narrow channel in the bed. Then whilst in best bino using mode I was aware that something had landed on the ledge adjacent to me. Shifted my gaze sans binos and it was a robin about 20cms away from my face. I didnt have my camera at hand (just a fuji compact) but when the robin went on an exploration of the hide I started to use it. I took over 40 pics in a short space of time. For a while it was very close to me and I was using the macro setting.
I have posted the best on my photobucket site, but it appears I have to upload them to this site to be ahared so will get on with that later.
Regards to you all. |

I enjoyed it too.
Even if I did go for a burton. Hence a few blurred pics from my poorly camera.
Sooo glad it's recovered.
Otherwise I wouldn't have got my fresh Waxwing pics yesterday & today!
(See WW thread)

| | | Re: Mince Pie Meet at Sevenoaks, December 28, 2010 Just dragging this thread out of retirement for a quick update on the scarlet elf cups. They were tiny at the end of December but some of them are a good three inches across now. And there's loads of 'em!
That last one is still quite small and is a ten image focus stack.
