I'll have to book a day off work, then it is dependent on if they actually grant me that day off.

just pull a sickie, eeyores top tip: if you lie flat on your back on the floor when you phone in it makes you sound like you are really rough

Re: Thursley Common Meet

That's a shame. Would it be possible for you to get there by public transport? I would be happy to pick you up from the nearest bus or railway station to Thursley to get you to the meet. PM me if you are interested nearer the date.

Re: Thursley Common Meet

hmmm - I'll be going round the north side of the M25 and over the dartford bridge so if you can get to somewhere close to the orbital as it goes through kent I'd be happy to detour to pick you up from a railway station or similar.

Hmmmm

I thought we were meeting on the Thursley-Elstead road
at the pond (known as "the moat" in my youth); its a long hike
across from the A3 / warren pools to that, and even longer
walk if you go via Thursley village centre !!

Re: Thursley Common Meet

I'm not naughty enough to pull a sickie As for the meeting point, without looking through all the pages of the thread, has anyone put a OS grid ref for the meeting point?

I have walked to Thursley Moat from Milford Station (and back again) and it is a hell of a hike. There appears to be a bus that goes via Elstead (which is just to the north of Thursley) and runs from Guildford/Godalming/Aldershot station (see here to plan your journey http://www.travelinesoutheast.org.uk. It is about 20 mins walk for Elstead PO to The Moat.

Hopefully will be able to make the w/e - more likely the Sunday

Stephen

I am very disappointed, the Lioness and I will not be able to attend
due to the travel time and other commitments
We will be thinking of you all and may try for a couple of days in Slapton
as a consolation

Oh! another Visit to Slapton Seems like a great Idea.. and it is probably easier to get to by the looks of it
Maybe we should arrange a get together down there at some stage

Why is it that people never seem to fight on top of trains anymore?

With trains becoming more and more crowded it could become the norm
