seriously I'm easy - but I do wonder if we should just play sunday by ear depending on what people fancy doing rather than fixing an itinery this far ahead

You need to get some specific areas. I know one, but was there in early Nov, I think, when most goodies had past.We walk it when we visit our son on base-when he's not abroad!

Basingtoke Canal is good for aquatic plants as well as being a lovely walk. Brookwood Cemetery has some interesting plants (native + alien) + I've seen Green Hairstreak + Brilliant Emerald there. |

It will add greatly to my learning curve I suspect! |

| | | Re: Thursley Common Meet After reading Dragonfly News, it seems that 19 species of odonates survived the terrible fire, that engulfed the common last year. Apparently the numbers were down after the fire, as you would expect, I suppose.
A direct quote from the magazine article by Don Tagg, a long time Thursley Recorder reads,
' The problem will be that next summer they will emerge into a comparatively barren habitat with less insect food and the adults themselves will be more exposed to predation by birds.'
He goes on to say, 'My guess is that everything will be there but that the bog pool specialists particularly will be pretty scarce.'
Just thought I should let you know that incase anybody was looking for any particular species and therefore may be disappointed.
The warden is on his hols at the moment, but I will speak to him soon.
Jules

I'm hoping it'll be a good meet for everyone. Be nice if you came.

| | | Re: Thursley Common Meet Just to let you know that a few of us cant join you all on the Saturday evening. We have been invited to a meal and to stay over on a private reserve.
Steve and I however are going to Thursley prior to the meet to find suitable camping facilities for the Friday evening and for the rest of you on Saturday.
If any of you have any suggestions or requirements please let Steve (Fourwings) or I know |
