The closest stations are Milford and Whitley (just right of the A3 on the map, a bit further away are Farnham, Haslemere and Godalming. For those driving, the A3 joins the M25, and the A331 (pan out and north) joins the M3.

I was at a wedding reception that weekend and from the garden we were overlooking the whole area involved in the fire, it was huge !. It had been burning for some days previous with huge smoke clouds dominating the local area.

I revised that post to include the local YHA at Hindhead just up the A3. Not found any campsites locally but I know there are some in that area.

Would anyone object if I set a date.23rd/24th June. I really want this to be successful for you all and as I've said already, emergence peak is different times but people need to put something down in their diaries.

I have been in contact with a very helpful chap called Ron (English nature) who has kindly given me a contact address for the warden for Thursley. I will phone asap to find out about the condition of the site and any restrictions we may encounter.
I have also invited Ron to WAB.
