Why not pick an additional meeting spot somewhere inside - near the cafe perhaps, so that those who arrive later - as no doubt some will need to - can still find the rest of the group.

Perhaps on the half hour a different volunteer could drop by to see if anyone new is waiting there.

It doesn't look like I'm going to be able to make it.

I've suffered a relapse with my back this week, I've been hoping it will be better every day, but it's not.
I tried going out to Clumber Park today, but even that journey was too much. I can't see me being able to cope with a round trip of 250 miles plus the walking etc.

I'm gutted, because I was looking forward to meeting you all.

I hope you all have a great time.

Your going to have to get that back sorted Graham. It's a shame you can't make it. The more familiar the faces the better.

I hope it does come good before the day but if not we will have to get together in the spring. Fourwings local could be a good meet.

If anyone is looking for accommodation there is a list of places on the WWT Slimbridge website. We've stayed at the Tudor Arms Lodge a couple of times in the past - the rooms and en-suite bathrooms are spacious but not exactly luxurious, the food is good pub standard and there are facilities for caravans and camping. It's just down the road from the reserve.

I'll post again if things improve over the next few days, but experience tells me I'm in for quite a few weeks of discomfort.
I've got the chance to go to Centre Parcs in Sherwood for a few days the week after next. It's only 15 miles from here so I'm going to go there and have some time in their spa area, that will make me feel better!

The cafe does a good coffee so a regroup at 10:30 or so maybe in order to pick up the long distance travellers. Only downside, if that bittern is still there I'll probably be in the Zeiss hide lol but at least you'll know where I am

or they could take a few mobile numbers and ring when they are close?

No unfortunately I won't be coming either, it's my lovely man's last weekend in the country before he goes to Afganistan for over a month. Huge apologies to everyone

but I'm going to stay at home and stock up on cuddles

So what is the final meeting point?

If there are a few early enough that aren't members then I have vouchers that will get you in at a reduced rate, plus I have a complimentary ticket donated by Pete that gets you in for free (I think). I aim to be there for 08:45am at the latest as I want to go to the Zeiss Hide after the Bittern. I will stand by the desk where you pay until 09:15. If anyone is there that wants to stay longer I will give them the vouchers to pass on.

I am easily spotted as I always wear a cream coloured Birdforum Cap.

Are we re-grouping at 10:30am for the late comers.

Access into the main area of the reserve isn't open to anyone until 09:30.WWT members (with their card) can access only the northern hides from 8am via a side door
