| | | Re: Frampton country fair 2010 Looking at the website map of Frampton Court has stirred some memories. I used to live in the village, my Grandfather was gardener at the Court and Orangery for many years. One aunt still lives not too far from the Court. |

| | | Re: Frampton country fair 2010 Nice area, agreed but it has chaged much since I used to roam the estate as a lad. Fishing in the gravel pits, bird nesting and getting into all sorts of places.
My fishing career started in the fishpond at the Court. It was full of Eels and Rudd in those days. We used to have the best of food from the garden behind the Orangery, all sorts of exotic stuff as well, asparagus, artichokes, apricots as well as "normal" vegetables. The pond froze solid in the winter of '62 and all the fish were killed.
Dutch Elm disease chaged the face of the Severn Vale, I doubt it will ever be the same again. |

| | | Re: Frampton country fair 2010 It still has a feel of quiet countryside, unlike many areas around these days.I used to fish the canal in the late 70's but at purton, and slimbridge .and the little avon river nearby for grayling. |

Not sure about the show thought, very pro-hunting last time I was there (quite a few years ago)

| | | Re: Frampton country fair 2010 The country fair is hosted on land hunted by generations with the Berkeley whose hounds have pedigrees dating back to the 12th century.
Like it or loathe it there is a strong hunting ethos at Frampton.
I am tempted to pull this as I don't want to open up a hunting debacle - just commenting on WB's post. |

| | | Re: Frampton country fair 2010 I used to live in the village of Hawkesbury Upton. The hounds of Badminton used to come in our garden on the hunt.Loads of hunting for different mamals goes on in the area. Its what you expect in Countryside.

| | | Re: Frampton country fair 2010 I went to the berkeley show this year,a few weeks before the frampton show. They had the berkeley hunt there for a parade with the hounds.According to them most of the top hounds in the country descend from the berkeley pack and berkeley dogs are still bred for transfer to other packs. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
