I don't know where you were standing but I was at the bottom of the hill near the fence. The first time I went by I saw them up in the tree, scattered some food but - no they didn't want it so went for a walk - came back and there were five. And they were all around my feet!!
The light was pretty bad hence high iso and hand held so a little soft but hey - gives me inspiration for next time.
Dorcas | Yes the bottom of the hill was where we eventually spotted them on the other side of the fence, but once they started to show themselves they were on the path and also a little further down on the the slope on the other side. Yes because of the trees, the lighting can be quite dull but luckily the sun managed to break through in places |

| | | Re: Formby Hi everyone, I thought I would drop you all a note regards Formby. I have been a few times and each time I have dithered over the use of a tripod or bean bag. More often than not you will want a fairly low angle and when using a tripods I think you will find the fences/barriers in the way. In these circumstances I found the bean bag invaluable, it is quick and steady, that is until some twerp starts bouncing around on the barrier.
If you have both I would take both but I suspect you will find the bean bag quicker in some instances.

| | | Re: Formby We had a good day out. Met with Mr Cheeky, Peter, in the car park around midday and spent some toime photographing the squirrels. The lighting was not the best so I was forced to use an f2.8 lens - the 105mil Siggy, which was often to large. Anyway I got some decent shots.
We then went to Crosby, but the tide was in so put paid to what we wanted to do there so we drove up to the lakes and camped out. Dry until 5 ish this morning, then we knew about it.
Nice meal last night. Sorry girls but we did Oscars recipe. Lovely - just the job, and we had a few beers.
Slept quite well with gloves and hat on but woke with a slight headache - dont know why |

Thats a lovely squirrel shot Boddie and yes the lighting can be a problem but you have done really well, lovely image. Shame about the rain in the lakes, it hasn't stopped raining here all day either. I don't know what Oscars recipe was, but with you saying sorry about it perhaps I'd better not ask |

I must admit I can see Oscar having to cook his recipe the next time we have an all night Mothing session, it sounds fantastic, the perfect meal to go with the odd gallon or two of ale |

It is nowhere near the Chinese take away standard though, ask MTR or Nikon Nige!

When I said Forrest Gump could do it I mean all of us idiots can do it.
No real cooking required, bung all the "secret" ingredients into a pan and heat through!
Presto! A perfect meal for 3?

It would have put my recuperation back by a couple of years by the sound of it.

Do you think it is spoilt by not getting all of his tail in, or do you not think it matters, too much? |

I assume that you talking about Oscars Stew earlier in this thread.
I can say that I have sampled it several times and it is an excellent meal
Has he told you about his home made curry mix?
That I can tell you is to die for.
It is one of the best curry mixes I have ever tasted, no packet rubbish involved.
This is made with authentic spices in a huge pan (Perhaps that only happens when I'm there huge pan that is)

| | | Re: Formby Only just found this thread - I'm pleading a busy week at work - too tired or busy to surf at nights. . . nice pic Boddie - sounds like we missed a good outing - not sure about sleeping on a cold floor tho - getting a bit too old for that!
You should have hung around for the Formby Fox - he is being fed just on dusk by a number of locals and can be almost relied on to turn up. We saw him last Friday evening (I took some shots even tho it was dark) I wanted to compare markings with my earlier pics and prove to myself its still the same Fox - and it is. However we were told that two are coming now and locals are hoping for cubs - but I have a feeling they are both dogs. . . hopefully I'm wrong as little-'uns would be nice tho I would be worried that something untoward might happen the niave youngsters. Time will tell.
