| | | Re: meetings! I think I would be up for the Thursley meet also, depending on dates. It has been a while since I have been there and I presume that the Dartford Warblers are still there as well.
It's been that long since I have been there that directions will probably be needed for me.

Julie | You get used to it over the years Julie, I tend to bury myself in writing articles etc... this Winters project is to start writing a book on the Dragons and Damsels of Leicestershire, I have all the images and info that I need so its just a case of bashing away at the keyboard for a few weeks, months!!!
I may sound old at times but I'll have you know that I'm a very youthful 41 year old, well so I tell myself anyway |

In January, I'll request a sticky for Thursley and we can add names to that. I'll look up some accomodation for us all-probably around the Godalming area(not cheap in Surrey sadly)and perhaps we can get some members from further afield.
If you google Thursley there's lots of info-bit too much to link in, so have a look and it may tickle your fancy.

Julie | That will have to be an over nighter for me. No problem though, provided I can find accomodation. I'll probably stay a few nights to make it worthwhile, so any other sites around that area, let me know! |

| | | Re: meetings! I would still possibly go for a Cheshire meet, but really need somewhere whithin about 15 miles of Crewe as that is the furthest I can drive a car (panic attacks) or somewhere I could get on the bus. Thoughts are Springtime in Delamere Forest at Whitegate or perhaps along the River Weaver between Winsford and Northwich.
Car driving problems are ironical as in the late 1980s I drove to Cornwall and back in a real austin mini clubman! |

| | | Re: meetings! Another potential meeting in Cheshire could be late June next year to see the Glowworms alongside the Shropshire Union Canal and A49 at Beeston. Could be a problem with car parking but it might be possible to park at a local pub. Obviously it would be a latenight meet and people would not be leaving until at least 1AM .If anyone is interested we could start the planning now. It might also be possible to get some interest from members of local groups such as REcord. |

| | Re: meetings! Hi All
I am Mr Cheeky from Merseyside (Peter) I hoping to organise a trip in the Merseyside area in December on a Saturday or Sunday.
I actually live in Southport.........
(1) The idea is either stay local and visit Mere Sands Wood , Marshside Nature superb for wading birds visit also Formby Point and see the Red Squirrels and lots of other wildlife. After the day finishes go for a meal and maybe a drink very reasonably priced meal a 2 for 1 restaurant.
(2) The other option is to visit Hilbrie Island West Kirby a heaven for wildlife seals etc etc etc and maybe another nature reserve time weather and light permitting again with a reasonably priced meal after.
All have great times watching and looking at wildlife.
Any ideas and sugguestions would be great a sugguested date Saturday 9th December 2006.
Comments are both one and two would be very welcome and then I will make a final decision on Sunday 3rd DEcember 2006.
Cheers all
Peter

Primrose hill looks nice. Maybe some of your suggestions could fit in along side that. Was looking at doing it around the easter break.
Apparently there are Badgers, so anyone got any idea when might be a good time for spotting them? |

| | | Re: meetings! It seems that the best times are between mid June and mid July to catch the extensive species present on Thursley.
To note, there is 26 species of odonates including Brilliant Emerald, Downy Emerald,Four spotted Chaser and Red-eyed damselfly.Golden-ringed, Keeled Skimmer,Small red damselfly,White-faced Darter(which is very rare), just for starters!
I'm sure we could get our collective scanning techniques together and find a good percentage of the ones present....so we'll send Steve off ahead and when we hear a 'Wha-hoo!' we'll just follow where the wha-hooing is coming from!
I will also check to see if last years terrible fire damaged it's population of odonates.

The 8th is a Friday so what is the agenda? Have you got your dates wrong or are you having the Friday off, or travelling up on the Friday evening. I am easy either way as am due 11 days. I am also cool to drive.
So let me know what you are planning, which days, accomodation etc etc. As usual I am cool with whatever.
If anyone else fancies this let us now |
