| | | Re: Ivinghoe Beacon & College Lake, late June 2010 i am so glad you all had a great time, with some wonderful photos, apologies for not letting you know of my non attendance, but have recently been diagnosed with mortons neuroma in my left foot that requires surgery. i can not stand or walk for any period of time, but i look forward to both a successful operation, and the ability to walk again in a few months. i will definitely attend next years meet because i have fond memories of both dunstable downs and ivinghoe beacon from far distant sunday picnics.
i eagerly await any more photos and stories. |

| | | Kids who like wildlife and are bored this holiday. Pete, I hope you don't mind if I tag a post to the end of this thread. I visited College Lake a couple of days ago and I enjoyed my visit very much (although I wasn't botanically skilled enough to appreciate the flora and it was a little too windy for insects).
I think it would be a good place to take any "wildlife-friendly kids" for a trip out.
Plenty of little sheds tucked away with interesting facts, ideas and things to do. Lots of shelters and hides if it rains. A cafe open 12-3 pm. Two blocks of toilets. Sorry, I can't add any more pictures atm - gremlins.
Anyway, just an idea for any frustrated parents out there.

Little sheds packed full of information and things to do:
Even in windy conditions there were some macro photo opportunities:
(It's a good day out for adults too.)

| | | Re: Ivinghoe Beacon & College Lake, late June 2010 Yes, it's definitely a good venue for youngsters with an interest in wildlife. And not bad for those of us that are slightly older, either!
I must go back there soon .... | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
