| | | Gigrin Farm meet, Sun 11th April 2010 After watching the Snowwatch program several people have expressed an interest in a meet at Gigrin in March/April. The next 6 posts were all originally made in the Snowwatch thread but I've moved them here to avoid taking that thread off-topic!
Anyone else up for it?

It's best to ring Chris the day before and prebook spaces in one of the photography hides. Tower Hide is more expensive but you're higher up and get a better all round view, but also get more cold and wet as it's only partially covered!
I personally like the Gateway hide, slightly cheaper and still has a fairly open front, but you can lurk at the back if it's getting a bit chilly. Having said that my arm kept freezing to the snow covered front shelf of the hide last Saturday as I was leaning on it to handhold the Bigma...guess they were unusually extreme conditions though! There's a great chippy in Rhayader for afterwards too |

| | | Re: Snowwatch - from the Springwatch Team! I agree with Nicola, pre booking a hide would be a good idea.I have been there once, before they built the new hide and it was really, REALLY busy.
Apart from the chippy, there are a couple of great pubs and a cracking campsite/caravan park in Rhayader as well.

| | | re: Gigrin Farm meet, Sun 11th April 2010 incidentally we've been to gigrin before as a wab meet in 07 - there is a video boddie made of it on you tube somewhere.
Camping is possible (very cheaply) at the farm itself and there is also a hotel at the bottom of the hill.
I'm not coming on this one as we have numerous redkites near us anyway - but good luck with this one - hope it ends better than ours which culminated in mr bump (john) falling on his head and having to go to casualty (not i hasten to say at gigrin - that happened in a dark farm yard where we were aiming to camp having tied in a visit to pystyll rhaeder. )
