| | | Crossness Winter Bird Walk Sunday 24th January at 10am in the protected area. The entrance to the reserve is in Norman Road to the north of the A2016 - paste 51.501744,0.15456 into Google Maps and it'll take you right there.
This event is free and all are welcome. If anyone is coming by public transport I'd be very happy to provide a shuttle service from and back to Belvedere station.

Too far for me though |

Let's hope it's not so foggy this time. |

| | | Re: Crossness Winter Bird Walk Good stuff! There's a new site warden in place so I'm hoping the event will be well attended to give her a warm welcome. Quote:

As anyone who's visited will know it's not the most picturesque of sites but it does attract an extraordinary variety of birds - waders wildfowl, gulls, terns, cormorants, herons and little egrets along the Thames, plus grebes, rails, finches, buntings, warblers (in season), wrens and corvids on the marshes and a good selection of raptors such as peregrine, kestrel, buzzard, the occasional marsh harrier and our resident barn owls. Fog excepted, there's always plenty to see.
(It's a wonderful site for inverts too so I get to practice my lying down skills, but that's a whole other thread!)

Plus it looks gorgeous in the snow. And at dawn. And by moonlight!
