Thursley Common 24/25 July 2010 (4th meet)

Would anyone be interested in yet another meet at Thursley? I'd be happy to set it up if there are any takers. I'd like another look at those Raft Spiders and this time, I intend to have converted totally to a DSLR camera- possibly the Canon 500, so I'm nicking the Sigma 150 off of Wild-Man (he doesn't know yet) and would like some eyeball to eyeball shots of these magnificent arachnids.
Also I'd like to see a Golden Ringed Dragonfly again.
Oh yeah- and it would be nice to see old and new Wabbers!
What do folk think?

We nearly made it to the last one so I will aim at a new date and hope to make it fit and that we haven't booked anything already. Its a place I've always wanted to visit ....... so which month are you looking tentatively at Jules?

Well I think to benefit from the superb variety of invertebrate life the common has, then July/August is best. I might have a chat with the warden before posting a date so we are spot on for the invert peak.

Brill - there is nothing on our calendar for either this year and so we could poss work a break in - or if you settle a date soon enough Ian could argue for a hol in Aug this year just simply cos its a month we usually avoid to leave colleagues with kids time off - so it could be our turn this year for a couple of weeks off and do some 'insecting' down south for a change. I suspect the end of July beg of August will be the right time scale for certain things - I'd already been weighing it all up

Depends on circumstances, but I'll definitely try to make it. I really enjoyed the Thursley Common meet this year.
