| | | Regents Park Heronry Meet, Sat 3rd April 2010 On Sunday Horizontal Dave and I started talking about Regents Park and how good it was for photography (and I was ranting on about how it seems to get ignored in all the 'places to see wildlife in London' articles) when we thought (im dragging dave into this one) it would be a good idea to have a WAB meet there, specifically when the herons are nesting in the easily viewable Heronry there. Best of all Wabbers without cars can come because its one of the most accessible parks by public transport - right near baker street and regents park tube stations and loads of bus routes
Looking back at my 'Heronry reports' on my blog the main activity started in February and I had my first view of the (well grown) chicks in March. So I would suggest one day early March? |

Its run by the wildlife officer of Regents Park so it accurate |

| | | re: Regents Park Heronry Meet, Sat 3rd April 2010 I remember that conversation Neil, and I'm certainly keen for another visit. Last time I was there was April 2008 so it's about time I went back. Are you thinking weekday or weekend? Either is good for me.

| | | re: Regents Park Heronry Meet, Sat 3rd April 2010 I was thinking weekend, so the most people could come. It will probably be busier but it doesn't really make much difference to the wildlife to be honest |

| | | re: Regents Park Heronry Meet, Sat 3rd April 2010 For the benefit of those who are wondering if its worth going, here are some photos Ive taken in the park with just a 6mp Panasonic fz7 bridge camera:
These are some from the bird collection
Other than the heronry, other attractions include:
- tame(r) green woodpeckers and jays
- Water rail feeding platform, which is pretty reliable for sightings of them
- Very tame grey squirrels
- Plenty of small birds on bird feeders around the park
- Loads of wild (but usually pretty tame) waterfowl on the lake + plenty of exotics in the collection (and some that have arrived on their own!)
- 100s of coots which maybe in the fighting mood when we visit! |

| | | re: Regents Park Heronry Meet, Sat 3rd April 2010 Hello, pencil 2 more in please. I never knew about the Water Rails, and have never seen one. I assume they are around all year? (*Ash rapidly retreats to do a bit of research*)
