The mandarin was next to a (owl?) nest box (it had a large round entrance hole) and Tony said they had been checking it out if I remeber correctly |

Sounds like you all had a good day! |

I was wondering if the bird had damaged his bill and it was some sort of veterinary dressing. Nice to know it's nothing like that!

I remember as a kid the Ring Ouzel was the holy grail in our bird spotting gang...Still haven't seen one yet. |

A quick update on the tuftie with the nasal saddle. He was captured and the saddle fitted at Saint-Philbert-de-Grand-Lieu, France, on 27th January 2009. But then there are no records of him until 30 March 2010 when he was first spotted on the Serpentine in Hyde Park. He was reported there again on 1st April and then by me on 3rd April.
Not so much a tufted duck, more a "canard de tuft"!

Dave P. | I may have aphoto of him from before the 2009 record so I'll have to see if I can dig it out! | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
