| | | Re: East Sussex meet up. Great shots Mike! I particularly like the robber-fly ones. I have a photo that looks like the same species but mine's just sitting on a log. I haven't managed to put a name to it yet. I'm pretty sure it's not one of the ones in Collins. Quote:

Regards Dave Monk | Thanks Dave - you will let us know about number 3 when it emerges won't you?
I've managed to upload a few more this evening...
Garden spiders. I'm pretty sure this is courtship with the male on the left and the larger female on the right.
Green lacewing
Common wasp
Scorpion fly.

I just want to make certain we are talking about the same one.
Thanks Dave
PS
I have added a note to each of my photos to tell you what they are when they emerge. So this thread may come to life in a few months time.

| | | Re: East Sussex meet up. Dogghound has ID'd the robber fly as a female Tolmerus atricapillus but has cast doubt on whether it is laying eggs. I can't think of any other explanation for the behaviour though. I may have to join diptera.info and research further.

Thanks Dave | No problem - here it is...
I've finally got round to looking at some of the wildflower photos from our visit, such as:
Common Centaury
Enchanter's Nightshade
Greater Birdsfoot Trefoil
Honeysuckle
Hedge Woundwort
Finally, here is the flower that was growing in the car park...
I'm fairly sure it's a crane's-bill but can't pin it down to a species.

Tormentil
The backlit bracken that was just begging to be photographed.
The lovely people in the wildflower forum have IDed my geranium as Druce's Cranesbill, G. x oxonianum, a garden escapee.
I shall post this chap in the spider forum and see if they can help...
I think Meta mengei is in wth a shout.
