| | | Re: East Sussex meet up. I have only just got back from holiday and therefore have only just seen this thread. Living about 25 mins drive away and a frequent visitor to these woods, I should very much like to come. It may depend on sitting facilities for my autistic son, but I shall bear this in mind! Sounds good to me

Had the late part of yesterday afternoon free so decided to go and check the woods out, gorgeous place!! It was alive with dragonflies, butterflies and other insects (grasshoppers aplenty and even Green Tiger Beetles).
I took a couple of shots that I've had time to post here -
and
I really needed more time! I had a walk down towards the lake area and found a beautiful open heathland spot ablaze with colour.
Got to work today and took the next 2 days off, I'll be back with the camera

I was in the woods from 5 until 7.15 yesterday evening. If you were there around that time and saw a pall of smoke it was from the kelly kettle where we were having a brew amongst the pines of Sedlescombe Heath. |

I'll be at the car park from 9am, meet up at 9.30 to set off at ten. Route and itinerary will depend on who turns up but loosely I'm looking to do 2 circular routes from the carpark with a short lunch break at the car park to save lugging lunch around. Tea and coffee will be available from the rear of my land rover and the kettle will be on from 9.
Initial thoughts are that this won't be an in depth study of the woods, more an introduction and pointer to whereabouts I've seen certain species of plant, insect and mammal.
I may visit before hand and remove all traces of fungi having read of the propensity of some members to spend hours on their stomach photographing them. |
