I'd be interested though naturally it'd probably need a few more weeks and a few more participants before the thing gets off the ground (unless you know of other interested parties not on WAB, that is).
Around where I live, there's the Pennine hills which are accessible to pretty much all able-bodied people. Though it's been a few decades since I actually went on any organised walks in Britain, I know there's a whole load of footpaths (going off in all directions) and a fair few reservoirs / lakes etc around here.
I'd happily consider travelling (to get to the walk), of course, and would also consider a good mountain bike ride should anyone else be interested.
So, come on people...
Ps. Regards the wildlife etc. encountered, I have a 20 year-old degree in Zoology somewhere so I can happily blag about anything that a fellow-walker might want to know more on.
Edit: More specifically, Littleborough train station would be a decent meeting point for those who need public transport. The place (Littleborough) is only a small village on the outskirts of Rochdale and its train station is just round the corner from the bus terminus so there'd be minimal chance of people getting lost on the way no matter what form of transport they prefer. There's also decent parking facilities for car drivers, too!
