Anyone for a meet?

| | | Re: Herts, Beds and Bucks Group OK, is anybody interested in a meeting at Ivinghoe Beacon, on Saturday 11th July? We would probably meet about 10am (but date and time can be changed if the majorty want something different).
I'm not an expert, but I can show you round and point out some of the chalk downland wildflowers and a few butterflies. If nothing else, there are some very fine views!
Ivinghoe Beacon is close to where Beds, Bucks and Herts meet, so should be reasonably central for most people in this group.
To see what's on offer, here are a couple of threads I posted after visiting the site on Wednesday morning: Wildflowers at Ivinghoe Beacon today Wildflowers at Ivinghoe Beacon today
And this is what it looks like:
It's about three-quarters of a mile from the car park to the top of the Beacon, and we would probably walk 2.5-3.5 miles over about three hours. There are some steep slopes, so stout footwear is probably advisable.
There are no facilities at the Beacon - the nearest are at Ashridge about five minutes drive away (NT Shop, food, toilets). |

This is what I was trying to ask about a week back but you didn't receive it - namely how do I get myself linked to this group as I live in Bucks.
Please can someone advise what I should do.
Thanks |

Thanks | Hi Gill, Did you see your VMs yet? There should be a link there. Did you try it? PM/VM me and I'll try and talk you through it.

| | | Re: Herts, Beds and Bucks Group We went to Chiswell Green for: Future Gardens
It's still pretty much a building site and won't be complete until 2011, but what there is stunning. The main dome only has the foundations in at the moment. It looks about 100 meters diameter and has been sown with 250,000 sunflowers! As it's incomplete the entry is '2 for the price of one'.
The most stunning thing about it is the drive to the entrance. There's about 1/2 mile of road and the banks on both sides have been sown with wildflowers in a solid mass of colours. It really has to be seen to be appreciated and I urge you all to take a look!
It was blowing a raging gale when we were there and the flowers were thrashing around. I took some photos but don't hold out much hope for them. I'll post any that are OK.
As I said above, you all really should make an attempt to go!
