| | | Re: Are we all saved? I wanted him to do well because of the his position he occupies in the political spectrum. But all I heard from him on TV during his campaign were campaigning speeches - which were just empty politicking ('we must fight hard...' etc.). In the end I wanted him to win because the thought of Sarah Palin being close to power was too horrific to contemplate. But at least I heard some of her policies. I've still not much idea what Obama stands for - but maybe that's my fault. |

Now let us hope that it won't be long before we can do the same and get rid of Gordon "I've saved the World" Brown who seems to think he is a legend in his own lunchtime |

| | | Re: Are we all saved? They keep going on about colour because it is such a major leap for America - its as close to a level playing field as they have ever had. Not many years ago coloured people were slaves in the US ....... think back to Halley Berry's award acceptance - where she cries cos its that unusual to have a coloured person recognised over there - and now they have given the greatest recognition anyone can have - a coloured president - its awe inspiring cos its such a turn around and it gives everyone else in the world hope that things really are changing.........
I tend to think he might get assainated as there will still be folk who are outraged that he has got into office - and there's always a lot of plotting and planning going on behind closed doors........ I hope not cos he seems a genuinely nice good man with decent family values - and I suspect some 'steel' underneath somewhere - which he will need when all the 'power-lickers' start cosy-ing up!!!
Cynic? Who me?!!!!

I'm not political, but something that keeps coming back to me is:
Obama is of immigrate origin, just like every other president.
Now when America votes for a native American Indian as president THAT REALLY WILL BE HISTORY, and a major step forward.
Not likely in my lifetime methinks.
