I have decided to swap the wildflower and the butterfly/dragonfly walks around timewise.

| | | Re: Bedfont Lakes WAB-meet? Hi All,
For those intending to come along on the 20th just a few directions.
From the M25, come off at Junction 13 (Staines) and head east on the A30 London bound.
Go straight on at the first roundabout (Crooked Billet) and straight on at the traffic lights at Ashford Hospital.
At the next roundabout (Clockhouse) take the 4th exit (ignore the brown country park signs). This heads down Clockhouse Lane (B3003)
Entrance to the country park is on the left, opposite the entrance to Prince's waterski club, after approx. 400yds.
Information Centre is the single storey building on the right as you enter.
Cheers,
Adam

| | | Re: Bedfont Lakes WAB-meet? I should also point out that there are no drinks or food for sale on site. Local shops and a petrol station are within 1 mile of us though.
Cheers,

John | I'm off now until Wednesday. I shall endeavour to put up some details then. Highlights were 54 bird species, and the best night's mothing of the year so far. Indifferent weather affected the other insect groups, but the day ended well with a decent bat walk with Noctule and Soprano Pipistrelles being seen and heard well.
Two new species for the site were found. Lilac Beauty moth, and a Leech whose name escapes me. Something like Theramyzon tessulatum. Hopefully next year we can have some funding to get a 'name' in and also some experts in the various fields that are understudied, such as spiders, and aculeate hymenoptera.
Cheers,
Adam

| | | Re: Bedfont Lakes WAB-meet? It was great to get to meet up with some of the staff from Bedfont Lakes and Cranford park. I spent a most enjoyable couple of hours looking at insects in the afternoon and then returned for the bat watch in the evening. Would have been nice to have seen some more WAB'ers turn up though. Perhaps next year? | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
