But there doesn't seem to be any sign of a "one year after..." programme where the efficacy of the various solutions is examined. That would be a really interesting watch... |

Anyways my fault for hijacking thread, which I slipped up on & realised just after I posted, My most sincere apologies Monkey

Hopefully I have got this list correct
Thank you to everyone who has replied and pm'd etc
Derelict - the Fallow Deer in the New Forest are definately unrestricted but like all wild deer we cannot guarantee seeing them but should be a good chance. As far as seeing the other places you mention you want to see there is no reason why you cannot fill up the rest of the weekend seeing what ever you like as the 2 events we mention are morning and evening and there will be lots of people there who know the area and can give directions however we will not personally be going as we will be in other locations. Having said that there is so much to photograph in the New Forest area the time between the meets will be free for everyone coming to explore thier own interests
Brian Phipps - its a pleasure to add Gwenhwyfar and Gary to the list and we look forward to meeting them
Jez - I dont mind you hijacking the thread at least it brought it up in view again
For those worried about the numbers we will probably split up into smaller groups if the numbers are large as we have a few local people coming who know the forest and deer
As for the accommodation - I am in the process of getting info together and will post shortly
Rob T - Dont worry I have plenty left for you to do and I have left the locations for you to sort out x

I'm happy to say you can put me down as definite for both days. Really looking forward to it for a couple of reasons. One is that I am woefully short of deer photos having only taken a couple of opportunistic shots at Minsmere. The other is the chance to meet up again with such a great bunch of people and to meet a few other members for the first time too.

Not only will there be write ups after, snowdrop but as I shall be walking the areas leading up to the events Ill probably write a few before hand and maybe some photos.
So far I have been liaising with our New Forest expert ( thanks Si ) as to the most likley busy areas coupled with my knowlege and hopefully other local WABers talking I cant see how we can miss.
The Red Deer SAT meet will start at Blackwater car park at 14:30 leaving the car park at 15:00 this should give over 3 hours before it gets to dark.
The Fallow Deer SUN meet will be one of the car parks (TBA ) along the Bolderwood Drive ( time again TBA as we could find ourselves in 10 diff locations ) But should be around 06:00 Sorry.
Unfortunatley these animals are very nervous and may move on from regular stands for many reasons so this is why the exact details will be settled closer to the date.
Dont worry about the car park locations as Ill will post a map etc later.
Only 7 weeks to go. . . oh and only 17 weeks to Christmas, look foward to seeing you all.
Regards
Rob

| | | Re: Deer Watching Wab Meet 2008 Hello, im a newbie here!
Im a very keen photographer and have recently started to photograph wildlife. I would be very interested in coming along on this event.
I am heading to the new forest tomorrow to get some practice photographing the Deer. Could somone suggest a good place for me to start looking? Where would be a good place to park? I can let you all know how i get on and if there are many Deer there...
Thanks
