Hi
we have a mixed farm near Melton Mowbray Leics and are having a 'closed' Farm Sunday event on June 1st - ie targeted at those interested in wildlife. Our farm includes an SSSI, 4 Local Wildlife Sites (so far) and a new bird ringing project.
Early Bird walk 7-9am offers a chance to visit the River Eye SSSI, hopefully heaving with wildlife, and (weather permitting) to see /discuss bird ringing at a new Constant Effort site as well as (hopefully) the results of our moth trapping the night before.
Mid morning walk 10.30-12.30 is around mixed farmland including hay meadows, arable, field ponds and fantastic hedges.
We also have an afternoon walk aimed at teachers - we host school visits

Thanks Jez-hey wow what a coincidence I see you are at Bewdley,that's where I grew up! Spent many a happy chilldhood hour exploring the Wyre Forest, where I really got interested in wildlife, getting wet in Dowles Brook and helping John Robinson who used to be the old NCC reserve warden in the Forest. |

In South Oxfordshire the Northmoor Trust are opening up Hill Farm. They're opening up their sheep sheds, and are having sheep dog demonstrations and trailer rides on 1st June. Hill Farm is at the Wittenham Clumps between Didcot/Wallingford. |
