| | | June 1st Open Farm Sunday Hi
we have a mixed farm near Melton Mowbray Leics and are having a 'closed' Farm Sunday event on June 1st - ie targeted at those interested in wildlife. Our farm includes an SSSI, 4 Local Wildlife Sites (so far) and a new bird ringing project.
Early Bird walk 7-9am offers a chance to visit the River Eye SSSI, hopefully heaving with wildlife, and (weather permitting) to see /discuss bird ringing at a new Constant Effort site as well as (hopefully) the results of our moth trapping the night before.
Mid morning walk 10.30-12.30 is around mixed farmland including hay meadows, arable, field ponds and fantastic hedges.
We also have an afternoon walk aimed at teachers - we host school visits
Please PM me if you are interested.Pre-booking essential and numbers limited but spaces still available |

| | | Re: June 1st Open Farm Sunday Thanks Jez-hey wow what a coincidence I see you are at Bewdley, that's where I grew up! Spent many a happy chilldhood hour exploring the Wyre Forest, where I really got interested in wildlife, getting wet in Dowles Brook and helping John Robinson who used to be the old NCC reserve warden in the Forest. |

| | | Re: June 1st Open Farm Sunday I've just got back from an excellent walk round on JoulesH's farm, despite it being a bit cloudy we had a very enjoyable and informative walk that included seeing a hunting Barn owl at 11:30am!!
The farm is a superb example of what can be achieved in the partnership between agriculture and conservation, and is a great credit to the hard work of JoulesH and her husband.

| | | Re: June 1st Open Farm Sunday Glad to hear you had a good day on Joules farm, Did Liz103 go along?
All credit to the farming life and community, as it is never just a nine to five job but a way of life that usually means all hours of the day and all hours of the night, and if you can every bit you can to help conserve wildlife as well as, then Joules and her husband definitely should get the praises they deserve. Hope to visit your farm next year....! |
