Just got back from Scotland after being on holiday for a bit of a break walking and photography
I decided to visit the local tourist information office and picked up a booklet for guided walks by Rangers of the Highland Council
The Highland Council countryside rangers are a partnership between the Highland Council and the Scottish natural Heritage with the aim of promoting public enjoyment and appreciation of the countryside and conserving wildlife
I had the pleasure of going on three or four of the walks
which I found very interesting and we visited places I would just not have imagined visiting myself the Rangers pointed out wildlife and also local history of the area
The Rangers were very helpful there is a booklet available with different walks each walk is graded for ability and types of clothing and footwear
some walks there may be a charge most walks are free of charge although it wouldn't hurt to give a donation towards their efforts
If you're visiting Scotland in the skye & Lochalsh and Lochaber area it might be worth finding out about local walks
Some walks are only perhaps an hour others can be several hours or days such as the Great Glen Way.
You would probably be best to contact the Highland Council countryside rangers for a copy of the booklet containing walks before visiting the area as copiers may not be carried by all tourist information offices ?
