Unnatural history
There's a short series starting on the 'Mediaeval Mind' which promises to investigate beliefs of a millennium ago that we wouldn't understand now - such as what are unicorns for .....

This is a fascinating area for me - did people invent all these mythological beasts or did they misinterpret dead specimens or fossils even? Or could some of the beasts actually have existed and have become extinct?

I'll give it a go .....
