| | | Priory Water 2008 After the success of last years WAB Dragonfly day at my local reserve in Leicestershire myself and the other members of the reserve management committee have decided to invite WAB back again this Summer.
We have decided to make Priory Water 2008 a two day event covering the weekend of JUNE 7th/8th so hopefully more members can attend.
Priory Water is a large, very wild reserve with a large range of habitats.
The reserve is possibly at its best this time of year with masses of Damsels and Dragons on the wing, the chances of witnessing Dragonfly emergence at this time of year should be an almost certainty.
The species available on the reserve at this time of year will be;
Large Red Damselfly
Red-Eyed Damselfly
Azure Damselfly
Common Blue Damselfly
Variable Damselfly
Blue-Tailed Damselfly
White-Legged Damselfly
Banded Demoiselle
Four-Spotted Chaser
Broad-bodied Chaser
Black-Tailed Skimmer
Emperor Dragonfly
In addition to this there will be loads of Butterflies and other insects about.
The reserve will also be full of Spring migrant birds and wildflowers.
The Saturday night is also National Moth Night so we will be running a Mothing session on the reserve to coincide with this.
There may also be the chance to visit a special site less than ten minutes away from the reserve that is home to a fantastic range of butterflies including Grizzled & Dingy Skippers, Brown Argus, Green Hairstreak, Small Heath etc... but more about all that later.
At the moment all we need is for people to register an interest in attending, last years group was around 40 people, this is about the optimum number that we can cope with, so if interest is high we may have to put a limit on numbers attending each day.
All we need is a real Summer this year!!

| | | Re: Priory Water 2008 Sorry Steve, I'm gutted won't be able to make either day as I'm 12 hour nights. Problem is we start a fixed shift system in April and we aren't allowed to swap days and all holidays are built into the system.
