I certainly know what you mean about fuel costs. Mr car uses diesel and the cost have gone up a 3rd over the last year. Last week it cost me £60 to fill up which is horrendous.
I was using this year as my last year to do twitching. My aim was to reach 300+ species this year but that looks in serious jeopardy as the cost of getting to places is getting out of hand.

From a purely selfish point of view, one of the things I'm most looking forward to (apart from the moths ) is meeting some of WAB's top contributors and that definitely includes you.

| | | Re: Priory Water 2008 Well guys and girls I am seriously gutted as it's impossible for me to make this one.
I work four days on and four days off and would you believe it this one falls on two of my days on. I couldn't believe my rotten luck when I checked the dates and there is no chance of swapping any of my days, and I can't pull a sickie as some poor other guy would have to work the days without pay as it's built into our contract.
Last years meet was brilliant and this years promises to be even better. To all those I met last year that are going this year have a great time, and to all of you who I have never met but would like too I hope it will happen in the not to distant future.
Look forward to seeing some great photos on here after the meet.

Good old Mum | Yeah! Good ole mum Enjoy and love her Nick..... my old mam has senile dementia and I hadn't realised just how bad things had got till this past month. It was bad enough my dad dying but when their mind leaves yet the person you recognise is still there .... but not there - well just love her to bits

It would be nice to meet some fellow WAB members and put faces to names e.g. I always imagined that Tormentil had photographed himself for his avatar, I really got a fright when I saw his picture

Pauline | Hello Pauline - looking forward to meeting you We will be there just as soon as we've managed to get the tent up.... The last thing they said to me was a comment about three of us in the tent and being noisy.... Now would we be noisy after the pub?!?!

I am confident that these will be joined by Emperor Dragonfly, Black-Tailed Skimmer, & White-legged Damselfly by June 7th.
There is also a brilliant supporting cast of Butterflies, Birds, Moths, plants etc.... this meet really is aimed at letting people see the reserve at its best time of year. Those who attended last year in August and thought it was good then are in for a pleasant suprise.
We are looking at the possibility of adding into the weekend a visit to a small reserve less than a couple of miles away from Priory Water, this is a stunning place for Butterflies and will guarantee sightings of Dingy Skipper, Grizzled Skipper, Green Hairstreak, Brown Argus and loads of other commoner species.
All we need now is the weather to be kind to us, warm sunshine during the day and a warm night for the mothing session would be great. | Really getting exited now its been a slow start up here due to the cold weather so we cant wait, if we see just some of these will be happy
