Hope you all have a great time - it's a lovely place, I've only discovered it since December and I've lived in the wider area for a number of years. I now go there at least once a week.
Not able to join you as it's my sons birthday this weekend and my daughers birthday next weekend so we have family back and forth. |

| | | Re: Thursley 2008 Hi guys.
Have copied this over from last years meet. Hope it works cos technical ain't my middle name. Maps of the world, country map search - powered by Multimap
Good, that seems to be ok.
This is where the carpark is for those coming, who would like to meet us there.
We're booked into the Travelodge at Guildford like others and will be there Friday night, all being well. If anyone wants my mobile number, please pm me and I'll give it to you.
If all is agreeable with you all-a 9.30am meet with a 10.00am set out, giving time for all to meet and greet.
I will say that obviously I am not an 'official' group leader, as such, so everyone must be accountable for their own health and safety. I am not first aid trained...yet.
The common does have some rough terrain, so good stout boots, suitable clothing for all weather types, water and a dollop of sun cream if the weather is hot and we're out a while.
Lastly,as I've mentioned,if for some reason we couldn't come,it would be because we've had a member of the family very ill and not out of the woods yet.
Really looking forward to seeing you all again. Pray for sunshine and a shed load of insects!!!!
Jules

Dave P. | How on earth did we manage without sat nav? Mine helps me get to places no Wild-Woman has been before......to seek out new areas......to seek out new insects and new friends......to boldly go where no WAB member has been before........
Beam me up Scotty...

Thanks,

nb: Iv'e used compass headings, which were lifted off the map prior to our walk ,when the cloud came down on Kinder Scout to navigate our way off the plateau, but I totaly rely on sat nav to get arround now, it's much easier.lol |

All being well I will definately be there
Having never been before can you tell me do you all take refreshments and sandwiches or is there somewhere you stop to eat at some time just so that I know what to bring?
It sounds like it will be good and can't wait to meet so many well known WAB names

| | | Re: Thursley 2008 That's up to you Linda but there's nowhere really close for a snack. We'll do what we did last year and nip up to the village to one of these supermarkets that sells sandwiches and drinks. In the eve...who knows? Possibly eat back at the travelodge if there's no mothing.
Definitely stock up on drinks though.
Ps You're welcome to hitch a ride to the village with us if you would like.

My plan is to leave Norfolk nice and early on Saturday- I'll aim to arrive by 9 latest even though the meet doesn't gather until 9.30 (I like arriving early and stretching after driving ) I'll have the whole morning there and a couple of afternoon hours. Probably leave at around 2.30 or 3pm so I can pick Elle up from work in Stevenage on my way back home. We're then attending my Grandad's 70th Birthday party.
All in a days work for a WABber Elle would love to attend, naturally, but she's got to work on the Saturday
See you all on Saturday!!! I'm well excited...
Nick
PS- It was looking at that list of people going that twisted my arm this time. There's some legendary names on there like You're all legendary my dear WABbers! |

I had toyed with the idea of joining you, but there's a family 'do' this week-end. Never mind, I hope I'll have the chance to see some of you at another WAB meet sometime.
I'm looking forward to seeing some good posts about the week-end when you get back. And lots of photographs! Not just the wonderful wildlife, but some of the WABbers as well (the more embarrassing the better!).
Have fun! |

Adam | Actually, I can too! It's just a darn sight more easy to sit there and be told where to go! Also you can shout at her or him when they keep on repeating the direction.
Need an Ozzy Osborne voice.

I am an ex long distance lorry driver and when I think of some of the places I had to find both here and abroad it makes my blood boil to think that people need sat nav just to find their way this countryside of ours.
With my birding hobby I have been to some far flung fields, never mind streets, and a combination of Road Atlas and O/S maps have seen me reach my target without ever getting lost.
