Re: WAB dragonfly meeting

Derek and I will also be able to come this time, I think. He's off in Derbyshire playing with cars today (or more likely with mud, given the weather) so I'll check when he returns.

Re: WAB dragonfly meeting

Myself and the better half (Ian) would like to add our names to the list please. The venue sounds good and it would be really nice to put a few faces to names. We would be looking to travel down on the Fri evening in the old campervan and stay on a site somewhere within reach - I shall get the maps out and have study!
Pauline

PS I won't mention my back . . . I'll just pack plenty pain killers LOL!

Just sneaked my name into the list while nobody was looking Looks like I'll be able to make it to this one and thought I'd better add myself in quick before something else crops up and I find that I can't make it that weekend

Not likely. Genius, good looks and now you want humour too...you'll just have to make do with 2 out of 3

Re: WAB dragonfly meeting

I am a nocando unless I can persuade my new beau to come along for an hour or so. I am away the previous weekend, with some of the lads, and she has been great what with my being away with the Czech all week last week but if we are at mine I'll try to get over for part of the afternoon or early evening.

Re: WAB dragonfly meeting

A few images of the venue for the WAB dragonfly meeting.

Priory water is a disused gravel pit complex situated in the Wreake valley just to the west of the town of Melton Mowbray in leicestershire, grid reference SK 714185.
The reserve totals over 200 acres of mixed habitats including around 80 acres of lakes, ponds,& river.
The reserve is stricly private and access is granted only for the purpose of wildlife recording, this being the case it is largely undisturbed and is therefore a nature reserve in the purest form ie.. there are no hard paths, hides etc.... pathways are simply mown to provide access apart from that there is no other disturbance to the natural habitats.
There is a small field centre with Gents & Ladies toilets as well as basic kitchen facilitys and seating.
I would advise anyone coming along that the terrain can be wild & rough underfoot in places so stout foot wear and long trousers are a very good idea.
Insect repellant is also needed as Priory Water is an excellent place for insects of all kinds, unfortunately some of them do have quite a liking for human flesh/blood
Aside from that bring plenty of memory cards and charged batterys because if the weather is anything like decent you will need them!

I will post a set of directions to the reserve a bit nearer the time.
Steve.

I never get tired of it John, and I practically live there during the Summer months

Weather permitting, this is shaping up to be a great meeting, I'm sure it will impress those that come along.

Right now, after the term I've had, this sounds and looks just what I need.

Hoped your lady would join us. Can you persuade her?
