| | | Martin Mere Creepy Crawly Show Just heard this advertised on local radio (semi heard it anyway, so looked it up on their (Martin Mere) website). Apparently it's on this weekend(23rd/ 24th June) Creepy Crawly Show - Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT)
Looks like it'll be great for the kids (big like me or small like my daughter ) |

| | | Re: Martin Mere Creepy Crawly Show Sounds like it could be a good day out, Martin Mere is a great place that we don't visit that often - very tempting even for old kids .

Mr Cheeky | Yeah, I'm going on Sunday as well You should be able to spot me - i'll be the bloke trying to stop his little girl from trying to pick up every insect in the show at once!
Hope you all enjoy if you can get along |

| | | Re: Martin Mere Creepy Crawly Show Well, whilst members were off on the Thursley Common meet (which sounded like a great weekend) I went along to Martin Mere. I went on Sunday and got lucky with the weather. It started off overcast but by the afternoon it was red hot!!
All the usual wildfowl and wetland birds were in abundance and from one of the hides we saw an Avocet and a Green Sandpiper.
The event saw a range of Birds of Prey on display, from Little Owls to Harris Hawks. The Creepy Crawly Show had all sorts for the kids to handle including snakes, tortoises, various butterflys, and my favourite on the day the pygmy Chameleons. The woman who was controlling the reptile section turned out to be someone I work with and who does these type of events in her spare time and I never knew!
My daughter particularly enjoyed the Pond-dipping (any opportunity to get her hands dirty!) It was a great day and I'm not sure if anyone else from WAB went but I'm sure you would have agreed. I'll get some pics up when I've sifted through them - and next week we're off to Leighton Moss |

Unfortunately I was unable to go due to other commitments but I really wanted to. Sounds like it was a great day out. The pond dipping would have been just right for my kids and the bugs. Looking forward to seeing your pics. |

| | | Re: Martin Mere Creepy Crawly Show Sounds like you had a good day, I wished we'd gone but after our morning ramble of over two hours our batteries (not the cameras) needed a recharge.
Glad you and the family enjoyed the day, sounds like you had a good day out, looking forward to your photos and possibly a report. .
