Saw my first Cornish Hare today!

There was a post here a few week back about Hares, and I mistakenly replied that I didn't think we had any in Cornwall (which several members corrected me on). I'd seen them before when we'd been on holiday in the Cotswolds, but never locally.

We went over to the North Coast today (watched the kite surfing comp on at Watergate Bay), then took a drive further North towards Bedruthan. The fields along the coast road are wire fenced rather than hedges, and our son suddenly said "look at that great big bunny". I caught a quick passing glimpse and recognised the huge ears as a hare. We turned round and came back alongside him and he was blissfully unaware we were watching so close. Unfortunately we couldn't stop for long as a lot of traffic around, but at least it proved to me we do have hares in Cornwall after all!

Good for you- it's good that your son's taking an interest. It's good to be proved wrong in such a positive way by this sighting. Let's hope next time you see one you're not driving!

I was in Norfolk for a few days and was amazed at just how many Hares there were around. They seemed to be almost everywhere. It's good to see them as they are a smart looking animal.
